Ellie Tree was born because I wanted to share the things I find beautiful and what I love to make.

This began in 2014 with jewelry, and in recent years has ventured into the world of printmaking. You will quickly notice that trees, birds and other beauties of the natural world are my favorite subjects. I love to create unique pieces for people I care about. I love to give gifts – and to get them too! I hope others will enjoy giving and receiving my work.

Since childhood, I have been in love with metals and I can remember creating things out of all sorts of random objects. I was incredibly lucky to be raised in a large, creative family where art was always encouraged. I graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a BFA in graphic design, but left the working world after a few years to devote myself to raising our kids. As years passed and more of my time began to open up, I discovered a love for jewelry making and was later bitten by the printing bug! Carving a block for linocut and rolling out the velvety ink feels akin to working with metals and tools, as they are both very tactile experiences.

The name "Ellie Tree" comes from a very special person. She was our little Ellie, who would have been born in the fall of 2014, but who now watches over our family from heaven. After a difficult recovery, the time seemed right for me to begin creating new things. Some of my original projects included mother’s necklaces and other personal commemorative pieces. Over the years, one thing I have learned is that by honoring life’s significant moments- both the wonderful and the devastating- we acknowledge the unique beauty of every life, and what it has to offer the world.

Today, I continue to create, surrounded by the incredible inspiration and support of my loving family, all of whom are working hard to bring more beauty into the world!
